A Faux-photogram of one of my favorite objects in the world...a broken sand dollar.
The legends say that the tiny birds that come out of a peacefully broken sand dollar are tiny angels of the people who were lost at sea. (There's also a poem that likens the sand dollar to the life of Jesus...oddly enough.)
In actuality, the "birds" are tiny sets of jaws, used for crushing small bits of sand, shell, and other animals' crap. Lovely.
